Born and raised in Brazil and based in Berlin, I work with different materials and since 2019 Clay has been my main one, creating sculptures and homeware objects.
I have come to see sculpting in clay as a kind of ritual whereby introspection and gestural intuition guides the form of the object. While making, I become aware of my presence and inner self, finding a deep level of spirituality which I aim to bring out in the form of the objects, in a sense, givinging them souls. Curiously, I realized that I already found this place of belonging that I feel in contact with clay, in the banal clay objects in my childhood homes. Folk crafts in general for me refer to shelter, protection, support and acceptance, qualities I seek to encapsulate in my own work.
